camino update 10 (Leon, San Martin, Astorga,...
It´s been a couple days.  Heres an update with some pics coming. First, Leon.  Second to Santiago, I was looking forward to getting to Leon more than any other city.  I had heard about it before, and seen pictures of its Cathedral in part of my research about the Camino.  But words could not express the experience of being a part of the city and standing right next to such a Church.  Just...

In a town called Religious.  Pretty tight. Small town.  Yesterday was one of the bigger cities along the route.  It was named Saghun.  I had to get a new watch cause mine was destroyed…dont know how…haha.  There were several awesome things about that city.  First, it was the official halfway town along the Camino route…so, as of yesterday, I was officially half way done my...

In a nice small town today, but forgot the name.  Today´s walk was ROUGH.  33 km…the most yet I believe!  And to make it a little rougher, the whole trek was a straight shot.  It was as if the road was never going to end.  Then, unexpectantly, after walking over a small hill, there was the tower of the Church signifying the town was near!  With a whole lotta sun and little shade, it was...

camino update 7 (castrojeriz)
Yesterday we stayed in Burgos and walked around town.  It´s one of the more larger cities in Spain, and a bigger tourist city, so we…well…were tourists!  Our main site was the Cathedral of Burgos.  WOW!  It was amazinnnngg!!  Following the towers brought you straight to the heavens.  Unfortunately, they charged for people to go in and view, which I thought was completely ridiculous.  I...

update 6 (Grañon and whereever I am now)
Wow.  Last night was crazy awesome!  Every night we stay in some kind of home.  There are refugios, which are kind of similar to city owned places to stay that are very cheap but have many many beds, usually over 90 or 100.  Then there are albergues which are more home-style with kitchens and places to do laundry.  Then there are hostels which are just beds and thats pretty much it.  Some of them...

forgot about this!!
You guys will LOVE this.  A couple days ago, my foot was hurting VERY badly.  I had to stop several times to get energy and allow some of the pain to go away.  I ended up having to go to the doctor because it was so bad.  Sergio also had some kind of problem with his knee, and he couldnt continue, so we stayed in Pamplona or Los Arcos I think it was, and went to the doctor while the rest of the...

camino update 5 (Logroño and Najera)
2 days in one post. First, Logroño. It was CRAZY in Logroño!! Here in Spain, they know how to party.  Check this out.  I am not sure if it was a feast day or not, but this entire week, monday through friday, all day and all night, they are having a festival in honor of St. Barnabas.  So, all day and night, everyday, there is so much food and wine all in the streets for cheap cheap cheap!  It was...

camino update 4 (Los Arcos)
Finally have some time to update. In a town called Los Arcos.  Absolutely beautiful.  Met alot of people from the U.S. today!! One from Rhode Island, two from Michigan (That´s alot for me here in Spain!)  Then I met a couple other english speakers from Montreal and Australia.  Todays treck was crazy…30 km!! The most we´ve done since the beginning.  I had to seperate from my...

camino update 3
Started walking today…it was awesome!  I walked to first half of my treck today alone in peaceful prayer with the rising sun and the singing birds.  The mountains of Spain are breath-taking you guys! Then my English/Spanish/Italian friend and I walked the second half.  We actually beat the whole pack today (which I learned today is good because there are limited number of beds in the hostels...

camino update 2
Just hit Roncesvalles today.  Begin walking tomorrow morning!  Lord help!  Gotta make it to Santiago in about 30 or 31 days.  750+ kilometers!  Enjoyed a beautiful mass today with a special “peregrino” (pilgrim) blessing in several different languages. The Church was absolutely breathtaking.  Old Gothic Cathedral with plenty stained glass to go around.  Old wooden kneelers with no...

camino update
Sup all! In Northern Madrid at the moment.  Its very beautiful.  I stayed longer than expected at the retreat house I was staying at.  But I think God was calling me to do so.  He has been revealing so much to me on these past few days of retreat.  It has been so intense! Please continue to pray for me.  So many stories already!  I cant wait to get home to tell you all about them.  Leaving...

An Unbloody Sacrifice
So after writing that last post I decided it might be a good idea to also make it known whats up with the Catholic faith: that we don’t sacrifice animals like the Jewish people did in the Old Testament (I’m not hating on Jewish people…I love Jewish people!).  We believe that in the New Testament, Christ sacrificed Himself for us and left us with a memorial of that sacrifice,...

Feast of Tabernacles.
So, I just did a paper on a selection from the Gospel of John.  John 7:37-44 to be exact.  I wont go into all the ideas that I wrote from it, but I will share one awesome facet of this verse packed with beauty. The Jews had one particular feast day among their many others called the Feast of Sukkot, also known as the Feast of Tabernacles or Booths.  It seems that tabernacles could be a little...

Today was awesome!
So, I served my first Tridentine Mass today.  Wow…it was so incredible!  There is so much reverance surrounding this Liturgy that it calls anyone attending to recognize the presnece of our transcendant God.  Especially during the Easter season, there is so much more beauty and reverence than the already abounding gifts the Liturgy brings by the very action of it being said and participated...
